If you worked at Target and need your W-2, active team members pull it from Workday and former team members download it from the Paperless Employee portal at paperlessemployee.com/target. Target’s HR Operations Center at 1-800-394-1885 handles login problems and paper copy requests. Employers must deliver W-2s by January 31, and because January 31, 2026 falls on a Saturday, Target has until Monday, February 2, 2026 to get your 2025 W-2 to you.1Internal Revenue Service. Getting Your W-2 as a Former Target Team Member
Once you leave Target, your Workday access goes away, but your W-2 does not. It’s still available through the Paperless Employee portal at paperlessemployee.com/target. To create an account there, you’ll need three things:
- Your 10-digit team member number
- Your date of birth
- Your Social Security number
If you can’t find your team member number, or the account setup won’t go through, call Target’s HR Operations Center at 1-800-394-1885.2Target. Team Member Services A representative can verify your identity and either help you into the portal or arrange to mail a paper W-2 to your current address. Target will not email your W-2, because the form contains your Social Security number.
Moved since you left? A paper W-2 will go to whatever address Target has on file, which for most former team members is the last address they used while employed. Give the HR Operations Center your new address before requesting a mailed copy, or skip the wait and pull the electronic version from the portal yourself.
Getting Your W-2 as a Current Team Member
If you still work at Target, the fastest route is Workday. Open Menu, then Tax Forms (W-4, W-2), and select Year-End Tax Statements on the Paperless Employee website to download a PDF.2Target. Team Member Services
If you opted in for electronic delivery earlier in the year, the digital W-2 posts before any paper copy would arrive in the mail. It’s legally identical to the printed form and imports into every major tax preparation program. If you didn’t opt in, a paper copy goes to the mailing address in Workday. Check that address now, before January closes out. A wrong address won’t delay the electronic version, but the paper envelope contains your Social Security number and you don’t want it going to the wrong door.
What to Do If Your W-2 Is Late or Missing
If February arrives and no W-2 has shown up, start with the Paperless Employee portal. The electronic copy is often ready before the paper one lands. If it isn’t there, call HR Operations and ask which address or delivery method they used for you.
If Target still hasn’t delivered your W-2 by the end of February, call the IRS at 800-829-1040. The IRS will contact Target on your behalf and may send you Form 4852, a substitute W-2 you fill out using your final pay stub of the year to estimate wages and withholdings.3Internal Revenue Service. You can also request a Wage and Income Transcript from the IRS, which shows the W-2 data your employer reported. Get one through your IRS online account or by mailing Form 4506-T.5Internal Revenue Service. Topic No. 159, How to Get a Wage and Income Transcript The transcript doesn’t include state or local tax information, so you’ll still need your pay stub to estimate those for a state return, and current-year data may not be complete until later in the filing season.
The 2025 federal return deadline is April 15, 2026.6Internal Revenue Service. IRS Announces First Day of 2026 Filing Season If a corrected W-2 hasn’t arrived and the deadline is closing in, file with the best information you have and amend later. Filing late and owing money triggers penalties; filing on time with a reasonable estimate does not.
Fixing Errors on a Target W-2
Compare your W-2 against your final pay stub of the year. If a Social Security number, name, or wage figure looks wrong, contact Target’s HR Operations Center or payroll right away and tell them exactly which box is wrong and what you believe the correct figure should be.
Once Target confirms the error, they’ll issue a corrected form, Form W-2c, and file it with the Social Security Administration.7Internal Revenue Service. About Form W-2 C, Corrected Wage and Tax Statements Expect the W-2c a few weeks after the correction is verified. If you haven’t filed yet, wait for it. If you already filed with the wrong numbers, submit Form 1040-X to amend your return. Most tax software now supports electronic filing of Form 1040-X, which is faster than mailing paper.8Internal Revenue Service. About Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return
A name or Social Security number mismatch between Target’s records and the SSA can affect your future Social Security benefits. The W-2 is not always the only form that shows up. Depending on what you did during the year, you may also receive one of these.
Form 1095-C

Form 1099-R

This comes from the retirement plan administrator, not from Target’s payroll department. You’ll need the information on it to report the distribution and figure how much of it is taxable.
Form 3922
If you bought shares through Target’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan, you may receive Form 3922 for the transfer.12Internal Revenue Service.
