PNC tax documents for the 2025 tax year begin appearing in PNC Online Banking in late January 2026, with most 1099 forms and Form 1098 due to customers by February 2, 2026, and consolidated investment statements by February 17, 2026. The IRS begins accepting returns on January 26, 2026, and the filing deadline is April 15, 2026.1Internal Revenue Service. IRS Opens 2026 Filing Season
Which Forms PNC Sends
The forms you get depend on the accounts and products you held during the year. PNC sends a copy of each form to the IRS as well.

When Each Form Arrives in 2026
Because January 31, 2026 falls on a Saturday, several standard deadlines shift.
- Forms 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-R, 1098, and 1099-NEC are due to recipients by February 2, 2026. PNC often posts these online a few days earlier.9Internal Revenue Service. General Instructions for Certain Information Returns (2025)
- Form 1099-B and consolidated investment statements that combine multiple 1099 types are due by February 17, 2026.9Internal Revenue Service. General Instructions for Certain Information Returns (2025)
- Form 5498 is due June 1, 2026 (May 31 is a Sunday). You don’t need it to file your return; it’s for your records and to confirm your IRA trustee reported contributions correctly.
One caution for investment accounts: even after the mid-February deadline, PNC’s brokerage arm sometimes needs more time to finalize cost-basis calculations and reclassify certain mutual fund distributions. If you hold investments, watch for corrected statements through mid-March before treating your numbers as final.
How To Access Your Forms Online
The fastest route is the PNC online portal rather than the mail.
- Sign into PNC Online Banking through the website or the PNC Mobile App.
- Go to the section labeled “Statements & Documents” or “Document Center.”
- Select the “Tax Documents” tab or filter and choose the relevant tax year.
- Open the form as a PDF to view, download, or print.
If you’ve enrolled in paperless delivery, forms appear online as soon as PNC finalizes the data, often a few days before the mailing deadline. If you haven’t, the forms still appear online, but paper copies arrive separately and can take an extra week or two. To switch to paperless for next year, look for a “Paperless” or “Delivery Preferences” option in your profile settings.
If a Form Is Missing or Late
Check your PNC online account first. Paper mail is usually the reason a form seems late, and the digital version is almost always available sooner. If nothing appears online either, contact PNC through the secure message center in online banking or the customer service number on the back of your debit card. Mortgage forms like the 1098 are handled by PNC’s Home Lending Customer Service, which is separate from the general banking line.
If April 15 is close and you still don’t have the form, the IRS says to file on time using the best figures you have, such as your own records and year-end statements.10Internal Revenue Service. What to Do When a W-2 or Form 1099 Is Missing or Incorrect For a missing 1099-R specifically, Form 4852 works as a substitute.11Internal Revenue Service. About Form 4852, Substitute for Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement Filing on time with estimated numbers and correcting later beats filing late.
If the Numbers Are Wrong
If a PNC form contains an error, such as an incorrect distribution on a 1099-R or overstated interest on a 1099-INT, contact PNC with the specific discrepancy and supporting documentation like account statements or transaction records. PNC will review the issue and, if confirmed, issue a corrected form marked “CORRECTED” in the header. The corrected version also goes to the IRS.
Timing matters. If you haven’t filed yet, wait for the corrected form. If you’ve already filed using the incorrect numbers, submit Form 1040-X once the corrected document arrives.12Internal Revenue Service. File an Amended Return
Why Matching Your Forms Matters
The IRS runs an automated program that compares every 1099 it receives against the income on your return. If PNC reported $2,400 in interest but you reported $1,200, the system flags it and generates a CP2000 notice proposing additional tax.
The accuracy-related penalty for underreporting is 20% of the underpaid tax. The IRS lists “not including income on your tax return that was shown in an information return, like income reported on Form 1099” as an action that may indicate negligence.13Internal Revenue Service. Accuracy-Related Penalty If the shortfall also means you miss the filing deadline, the failure-to-file penalty stacks: 5% of the unpaid tax per month, up to 25%.14Internal Revenue Service. Failure to File Penalty
Collect every PNC form before you file, cross-check the numbers against your own records, and make sure your return accounts for every dollar the IRS already knows about. If you hold only deposit accounts, expect your forms online by late January and in the mail by the first week of February. Investment holders should plan to wait until late February and watch for corrections before finalizing the return.
